Our Programs

Our inclusive preschool program benefits children ages three to five as they prepare for kindergarten in the public school system. Classes are taught in a bilingual (English/ Spanish) format to accommodate dual language learners, helping students to build vocabulary and emergent literacy skills in both English and Spanish. NJ Department of Education Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards guide El Primer Paso’s program, serving as a model for delivering high-quality educational experiences to our students and outlining developmentally appropriate teaching practices and expected learning outcomes for young children. We follow the NJ Department of Education early childhood curriculum model, Creative Curriculum, which is a research-based program to foster positive relationships, social-emotional competence, constructive play to support essential learning, and teacher-family partnerships. Special needs students are served alongside of typically able students in a least restrictive environment that benefits children of all abilities. Nutritious meals or snacks are provided. Tuition is assessed on a sliding scale basis and scholarships may be available for children in need.
